Blogging babes
Lately, everyone and their dog is jumping on the fashion blogging bandwagon and frankly it’s become a minefield of regurgitated bullshit. It’s either recycled, unoriginal content or just plain uninteresting. X pretty girl in X pretty dress paired with the mundane, fashion blogger’s accessory musts (e.g. JC Litas, ombre hair, studded collars etc.) stands in a garden pretending to be a fairy or pulling some other, equally idiotic pose. I’ve had to help more than a few of my girlfriends with these things. We see your Hermes Collier de Chien in all its glory and your lavender Birkin paired with your H&M dress so you appear “accessible”. Done, onto the next one
Thankfully, not one but two diamonds in the rough have showed their designer-clad bods and professionally posed faces. One for the girls, one for the boys…
Over on the ladies side of the fashion blogsphere, they have it tough constantly competing with Rumi Neely, Blonde Salad and Sea of Shoes etc (insert other big blogger name here). And in reality, it is to no avail. Imagine the joy when a gorgeous, Asian tomboy and owner of a wardrobe brimming with Celine, Givenchy and Wang, appeared on my interweb radar… I DIED.
For the girls: STOP IT RIGHT NOW
Jayne Min, creator of STOP IT RIGHT NOW, is no aforementioned fairy pretend-ee. Her style is truly one of a kind pulling off androgynous minimalism while simultaneously working the hell outta bolshie skatewear brands without looking erratic. She makes a vintage camo jacket paired with bright, sequined Ashish pants look so right. Jayne is in a whole other plane of coolness compared to a rather substantial part of the fashion girls’ blogosphere. She cherry picks one IT piece of the season rather than selling out and rocking them all at the same time. Currently it’s the much lusted over, (by me and everyone else) silver, Givenchy, shark tooth necklace. Her tone is funny and chillaxed and you can tell she doesn’t spend too much time or feel the pressure to put together an overdone outfit. She even designed custom made, Celine skateboard decks… that is hella enough reason to follow this gal.

For the boys: STARECASERS
I literally live for fashion twinks with killer bone structure and blank stares. Luckily enough, the boys of Starecasers make up for the hordes of menswear bloggers (or brand billboards) and the thousand re-posts of this lookbook and that runway show. Run by Berlin-based and best friends, Thibaud and Devid, it chronicles their rad style, travels, and outrageous parties as well as their photoshoots (yes they’re “model bloggers”) in a refreshingly cheerful and unpretentious tone. It’s rather endearingly narcissistic because if I looked like them, hell I would take pictures of myself all day long. Their style is a beautiful mish-mash of underground punk meets truant schoolboy meets gym rat. Starecasers is a visually stimulating and fun little photo diary, go follow.
